Communications Associate

Georgetown Public Affairs is seeking a Communications Associate to join our team. Working closely with GPA’s Managing Directors and principals, the Communications Associate will help plan and execute client-facing communications across digital, earned media, and stakeholder channels. This role is ideal for a highly motivated early-career professional who loves writing, thrives on deadlines, and wants to build a career in public affairs communications.

Responsibilities

Draft high-quality client deliverables with minimal revision (press releases, talking points, fact sheets, memos, one-pagers, newsletters, social copy).
Support media relations: build and maintain media lists, draft pitches, track outreach, and monitor press coverage; compile daily clips and post-campaign reports.
Manage and schedule content for web and social platforms; track basic analytics and recommend optimizations.
Assist with content development and rapid response, including research to inform narratives and Q&A.
Monitor government/organization hearings and events; produce concise summaries highlighting key takeaways and implications for clients.
Staffing GPA principals to enhance the overall productivity of the firm; and
Performing office administrative duties as requested.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.
Exemplary writing and editing skills, with an ability to tailor messages for audiences and channels.
Strong interpersonal skills and professional client service mindset.
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to pitch in wherever needed.
Familiarity with media monitoring tools, basic analytics, and major social platforms is a plus (not required).
