This is a unique opportunity to join an outstanding, experienced team of engineers united by a common passion for pushing the boundaries of space propulsion. As a Propulsion Engineer focused on electric propulsion, you will be responsible for a wide variety of efforts spanning the entire engineering design life-cycle for one or more innovative, game-changing space vehicles, from preliminary concept and requirement definition through hardware build, test, integration and, potentially, launch-site and on-orbit operations.
Your duties will include the design of in-space propulsion subsystems. This job requires coordination with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and other related fields including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure design, analysis, systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and facilities.
Support Subsystem Integration tasks and information requests on an as-needed basis.
Assist on the conceptual development, requirements definition, and design of propulsion components and subsystems.
Perform trade studies to select the appropriate design solution.
Maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical analyses to support systems and components.
Ability to work on a multi-disciplinary team performing design trades, detailed design/analysis activity and performance and maintenance assessments of operational systems.
Provide user documentation and recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
Ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent fields (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality…)
Desired Skills
Experience with aerospace manufacturing
Experience with tolerance stack analysis
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
