The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Controller/Asset Manager to directly support the partners in overseeing our growing portfolio. This hybrid role combines financial control, reporting, and compliance with strategic asset and portfolio management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting and financial reporting for corporate and property-level entities.
- Manage audits, tax compliance, loan covenant tracking, and investor reporting.
- Oversee portfolio accounting, financial reporting, and variance analysis (QuickBooks, Excel, AppFolio).
- Manage property-level and portfolio budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reporting.
- Coordinate with lenders, investors, and joint-venture partners, ensuring compliance with reporting obligations.
- Develop and monitor asset management strategies to maximize NOI, occupancy, and long-term value.
- Support leasing, tenant relations, and operating expense reconciliations.
- Conduct hold/sell analyses, valuation models, and debt/refinance assessments.
- Collaborate with property managers and vendors to ensure operational efficiencies.
- Implement process improvements across accounting and asset management functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Real Estate (MBA/CPA preferred).
- 7–10+ years of real estate accounting/asset management experience.
- Proficiency with AppFolio, QuickBooks, and Excel; Argus experience a plus.
- Strong financial modeling, budgeting, and strategic analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with ability to interface directly with ownership, lenders, and investors.
