We’re seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing operations team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and optimizing manufacturing processes with a focus on Continuation Engineering and Lean Manufacturing. You’ll work cross-functionally with engineering, product management, production, and quality teams to ensure seamless product launches, improve manufacturability, and drive continuous improvement from concept to end-of-life (EOL).
What You’ll Do:
- Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives for new product introductions (NPI/NPD).
- Develop and implement process validation and auditing protocols to maintain production stability.
- Support pilot builds and first-article inspections, proactively identifying and resolving issues before full-scale production.
- Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and other process documentation to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve workflow, reduce waste, and boost production efficiency.
- Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to optimize material sourcing and availability.
- Specify, procure, and implement new manufacturing equipment and electromechanical test fixtures.
- Conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective actions to enhance product quality and reliability.
- Train teams on ESD controls, Minnesota OSHA safety standards, and best manufacturing practices.
- Ensure all product SKUs meet internal and external compliance requirements.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing using IPC standards.
- 3+ years of experience with new product development (NPD) and new product introduction (NPI) processes.
- 2+ years working with ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills (a Plus):
- Proficiency in Python, Batch Scripting, or Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
- Experience with 3D/2D CAD modeling.
- Knowledge of statistical data analysis, electrical test equipment, and soldering techniques.
- Familiarity with PCB assembly processes (SMT, AOI, through-hole soldering) and mechanical fabrication (injection molding, 3D printing, sheet metal).
- Understanding of regulatory standards, packaging design, and ISTA testing.
- Experience with Windows, Linux, and Raspberry Pi environments.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods in an ESD-controlled environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and operate standard production and office equipment.
