Overview
- Hours: M-F; 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Engineering Technician to join our dynamic team. This role is essential for supporting engineering projects through hands-on technical expertise and collaboration with engineers and other team members. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical knowledge, experience with CAD software, and proficiency in various technical tasks related to manufacturing and construction.
Duties
- Setting up and operating machines: Set up, operate, and troubleshoot plastic injection-molding machines and molds. This includes ensuring the machines are set to the correct parameters and meeting production goals and molds are in proper shape to run.
- Monitoring performance: Monitor the performance of the injection molding machines and molds.
- Ensuring quality: Ensure the quality of the product and that it meets customer and internal specifications. This includes inspecting parts and stopping production if there are quality issues.
- Maintaining equipment: Perform maintenance on the equipment and review and inspect machines daily for maintenance issues.
- Training operators: Monitor, train, and coach the machine operators to ensure they are following proper procedures.
- Communicating issues: Communicate issues with engineers and other technicians and leads.
- Documenting changes: Document mold changes and machine adjustments.
- Supporting production: Support production runs and other plant maintenance. This includes assisting with changeovers on equipment and material drying.
- Injection molding technicians should have a knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment used during injection molding processes. Strong attention to detail, excellent prioritization and follow-up skills, Microsoft Office proficiency, and excellent written and oral communication skills are also required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in manufacturing, construction, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software is essential.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and schematics.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is advantageous.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions effectively.
- Excellent math skills for calculations related to engineering tasks.
- Experience with fabrication processes and assembly techniques is a plus.
