About Occident Wealth Management and Secure the Bag (STB):
We are searching for someone with a special talent and a passion for sports, marketing, social media, and communications to manage an exceptionally fast-paced and expanding financial literacy business for NCAA and NFL athletes and coaches. Additionally, this individual will oversee day-to-day marketing operations for a wealth management firm that specializes in working with athletes and coaches.
Who we are:
Occident Wealth Management and Secure the Bag equips athletes and coaches to become elite stewards of their finances. Occident Wealth Management specializes in financial planning for athletes, coaches, creating custom financial plans to align client’s actions with intentions. Through our Secure The Bag (STB) program, we deliver high-impact, engaging financial literacy sessions to over 20 NCAA, NFL, and NBA teams.
The Secure the Bag financial literacy platform for collegiate athletes and NFL teams applies a unique blend of interactive presentations and participation that make financial concepts digestible, relatable, and implementable.
Position Summary:
Occident Wealth Management and Secure the Bag seeks a Social Media Coordinator to serve as our content creation lead, grow our social media presence across our social media channels. You’ll help drive awareness, engagement, and growth for our financial literacy mission and our firm. This individual will oversee the development of goals, strategies, and implementation plans to execute comprehensive marketing campaigns. You will have the opportunity to lead in the collaboration and designing of the strategic social media marketing plans. The role will specialize in content creation, independently executing projects and performing daily tasks that use our social media platforms to promote and manage both Occident Wealth Management and Secure the Bag’s brand images.
Additionally, this position will have the opportunity to create, produce, and post the ‘Secure the Bag Podcast,’ which interviews professional athletes.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has experience working in collegiate and/or professional athletics, digital, or social space:
· Manage and grow our presence across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube.
· Draft captions, schedule posts, and upload real-time content from events, podcast clips, and
· behind-the-scenes moments.
· Repurpose educational content into bite-sized, high-impact visuals and videos.
· Coordinate social strategy around athlete appearances, STB sessions, and brand partnerships.
· Knowledge and experience leading marketing campaigns.
· Stay plugged into trends in NIL, sports culture, and financial literacy to keep content relevant
· Track performance metrics and recommend adjustments to optimize engagement.
· Knowledge of branded content production.
· Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
· Must be outgoing, organized, efficient, a team player, resourceful, creative, and able to balance multiple projects simultaneously. Candidate should be an organized and detail-oriented team player with ability to successfully multitask and meet deadlines; a pro-active, self-starter who takes initiative and anticipates team needs.
Required Skills and Education Requirements:
· Mastery of the major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok
Proven experience working with athletes, collegiate or professional sports programs, or NIL brands
· Strong writing and storytelling skills - especially for short-form content and captions.
· Knowledge of social media analytics software, including Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, and Twitter Analytics to track audience engagement and campaign performance.
· Minimum 1 year experience Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, Instagram Reels editor, Buffer/Later, or similar.
· Knowledge of photography or design management
· Experience in the sports, digital, or social space is a significant advantage.
· Bachelor’s degree, or currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in marketing, communications, or related field of study.
Preferred (but not required)
- Experience in podcast promotion or short-form video editing.
- Skills in photography/videography at live events.
- Understanding of the financial literacy or wealth-building space.
