Position Title: Technical Services Engineer I

Position Summary
Provide technical support to the West Elk Longwall, Continuous Miner sections and mining support systems. Identify potential improvements to mine operations and then measure effectiveness of improvement efforts in reaching performance targets. Continually improve existing utilization of technology while also considering and developing new and innovative applications for technology that can leverage additional benefits from the mine's technology investments.
Target Responsibilities
- Manage the existing Longwall automation system, optimizing its capabilities and providing technical support/training to electricians and operators as needed.
- Manage the Longwall system upgrades moving toward full-face automation and working to optimize the effectiveness of the system.
- Manage CM and Outby support automation, data management and programming.
- Manage the reporting databases for all of the systems described above and ensure data integrity. Develop and maintain reporting systems for the systems described above that provide useful and accessible information for effective production management.
- Perform analysis of data gathered from systems in order to identify trends and develop production improvement ideas and plans. Assist in developing processes and systems to implement such improvements.
- Investigate and identify other additional potential technology applications and systems that could improve productivity, efficiency, and/or reduce operating costs.
- Perform additional technology-related tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel and e-mail.
- Experience with Longwall automation and production monitoring systems.
- Experience with coal mining operations.
- Experience with managing databases, analyzing trends, and developing recommendations for process improvements from data.
- Supervisory experience.
- Undergraduate degree in relevant area is preferred but not required.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay rate: Salaried Non-Exempt (EX) 10 | $103,600 - $155,390 annually
Eligible for Performance Recognition Plan (bonus)
