Position Description:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for implementing improvements to the manufacturing process. The primary focus will be in our Assembly Department but may cover other areas of the manufacturing process in the future. Primary duties will include analyzing process steps and times (“walking the process”) to implement best solutions for tooling, techniques, training, & equipment.
This position is for a hands-on Engineer, willing to work with others and testing best methods. Some basic Assembly and Fabrication will be needed when setting up new work centers or testing new methods. Additionally, you will be the focal for any new start-up projects in the Assembly process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, improved quality and efficiency.
- Hands-on Implementation of Process Improvements with Operations team
- Collaborate with Operations, Planning, Engineering and Quality personnel.
- Review and improve work instructions and documentation to support manufacturing processes.
- Designs tooling/fixturing concepts to support manufacturing requirements.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve throughput
- Analyze and Implement effective Corrective Actions for and Quality Issues
- Select tools, equipment, materials and supplies as needed for improvement activity.
- Researching automation techniques and equipment to optimize production
- Create visual aids as necessary to document process or train personnel.
- Assist in training & training documents as needed
POSITION requirements
- BS degree – Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
- Lean Manufacturing and 5-S Experience
Required Skills:
- Solid technical problem-solving skills
- Ability to analyze and optimize manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Engineering – Ability to read Engineering drawings, models (Enovia), and Specifications.
- Computer – Use of Excel for documenting and analyzing data. Use of MPR system for collecting data.
- Teamwork – ability to work with others supporting GMW‘s Values and Principles (Quality, Integrity, Teamwork).
- Self-directed – complete job duties with minimal supervision.
- Ability to use measuring equipment to perform job duties.
- Mechanical – effectively use fabrication tools / hand tools to perform job duties.
- Ability to operate a variety of shop equipment including but not limited to: table saw, drill press, grinder, belt sander.
- Communication – effectively communicate with peers and managers orally and in writing.

Work Environment
This job operates in a machine shop environment. Must be able to remain standing/walking position for majority of the time. This position is required to work around high-speed machinery and equipment and the use of any required safety equipment. There is exposure to machine oil, metal filings, unpleasant odors and noise. Job functions on and around mechanized equipment will present the need for alertness, accuracy and safety awareness.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
