The GIS manger directs, plans, and advises on all GIS related activities currently engaged by the GIS team. The manager has deep technical knowledge, extensive consulting experience, and is savvy managing others personally and professionally. The manager sets goals for all team members and plans the organization of the team. At the same time, he or she manages the priority level and focus regarding all projects, ultimately deciding what each person on the team is responsible for, and making those priorities match the organization’s. The manager solicits and acts on feedback from the company on long term team priorities and employee performance.
- Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geospatial Sciences, or similar technical field, or some equivalent of experience
- 15+ years of experience working with GIS as a focus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must
- Proven ability to achieve results
- Experience managing projects and staff, developing systems and products, and acting in a consultant capacity are a must
- Desired but not Required:
o Highly experienced individual with a diverse history of managing GIS in multiple industries and projects
o Through this experience has learned the various pitfalls and hurdles of working with GIS and can advise on the best road to reach project and company goals
o Experience managing projects, acting as a consultant, and building and maintaining complex systems and staff structures
- Travel Expectations: Frequent travel may be required to coordinate
