About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Manufacturing Engineer to support both New Product Introduction (NPI) and existing product lines. This position plays a key role in bridging engineering, operations, and customers, ensuring that manufacturing processes are efficient, cost-effective, and meet the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate is proactive, customer-focused, and passionate about Design for Manufacturability (DFM), driving continuous improvement while maintaining clear communication and strong cross-functional relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers during design and development to review part designs and provide DFM feedback that enhances manufacturability, reduces cost, and improves efficiency.
- Lead DFM review sessions with customers and internal stakeholders to identify and resolve design or process issues early.
- Serve as the primary liaison between customers and internal teams (Engineering, Quality, Operations, CNC Applications).
- Coordinate engineering activities to align with customer requirements, project timelines, and production readiness.
- Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) through VMFG, ensuring timely updates to control plans and related documentation.
- Communicate directly with customers regarding prints, specifications, and process clarifications.
- Oversee project timelines and provide regular updates to management on progress, risks, and key metrics.
- Partner with the Quality Department to address nonconformances and maintain accurate control plans.
- Research and recommend new manufacturing technologies and process improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce cycle and setup times while improving work holding and inspection lead times.
- Ensure smooth handoff between Engineering and Operations, confirming production readiness.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment while upholding company policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering.
- Strong understanding of DFM principles, control plans, and ECN processes.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (VMFG preferred).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively across teams and with customers.
- Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive process improvements.
- Familiarity with CNC machining and quality assurance processes is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
