About Bioscope
Bioscope builds AI-powered infrastructure that helps physicians and patients make sense of complex healthcare data — from clinical files and EMRs to omics and wearable data. Our mission is to bring clarity and interoperability to healthcare information, empowering clinicians to deliver better care and patients to better understand their own health.
We’re a fast-moving, engineering-focused company where every team member owns meaningful parts of the platform and contributes directly to the tools physicians use every day.
The Role
As a Backend Software Engineer at Bioscope, you’ll design and develop scalable backend systems that power our healthcare data platform. You’ll work across AWS-based services to handle real-world clinical data securely, reliably, and at scale.
Your work may include building backend capabilities for AI-driven data processing — including transcription and language-based systems — but your scope will span the broader Bioscope platform and its integrations with multiple data sources and user-facing tools.
What You’ll Do
- Design and build robust backend systems leveraging AWS (Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, SQS, OpenSearch, Step Functions, etc.)
- Develop APIs and data processing pipelines supporting real-time and batch workflows
- Collaborate with frontend and AI teams to deliver production features for clinicians and patients
- Take ownership of major platform components and lead projects end-to-end
- Ensure performance, reliability, and security in handling healthcare data
- (Bonus) Contribute to DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation

- Strong experience with AWS and distributed systems
Nice to Haves
- Experience with Python (FastAPI, Pydantic, boto3)

- Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) or applied AI features
- Background in DevOps or cloud-native system design
Why Bioscope
- Competitive salary ($90K–$180K) and equity compensation
- High ownership and visibility in a mission-driven company
- Build production tools that directly support physicians and patients
- Hybrid, collaborative work culture based in Indianapolis
