Position Overview
Client is seeking a highly skilled Transmission Line Design Engineer to deliver advanced engineering solutions across the Carolinas West region. This role offers the opportunity to engage in end-to-end transmission line projects, from conceptual routing and cost estimation to detailed design, construction support, and field implementation. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in transmission line engineering, is proficient in industry-standard design tools, and excels in independent, high-impact technical work.
Key Responsibilities
The Transmission Line Design Engineer will:
- Lead transmission line design efforts, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
- Perform conceptual routing, siting, and cost estimation for transmission projects.
- Execute detailed structural, foundation, and electrical design of transmission lines using advanced engineering software.
- Provide field and construction support, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement innovative solutions.
- Develop comprehensive job packages, including calculations, design documentation, and technical drawings.
- Conduct engineering analyses and studies, manage project schedules, and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
- Modify designs to address construction, environmental, and public interface challenges.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing, and maintain accurate project documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Master’s degree in Engineering may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 8 years of engineering experience, with at least 2 years in transmission line design, preferably within the utility or power sector.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
- Advanced proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE, MFAD, and related design software.
- Strong knowledge of engineering theories, design principles, and applicable codes.
- Proven ability to evaluate alternatives and deliver sound technical recommendations.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with project management principles and effective execution of complex projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on Nuclear or other major utility transmission projects.
- Field experience in construction support, routing, or line siting.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously on complex, non-routine engineering assignments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $63.00 - $69.00 per hour
