Risk Control Analyst - up to $125k base This role is based in Houston, TX and works Hybrid (1 day WFH/ 4 days in-office)

This role sits within the middle office and supports power trading activities across North American markets. Responsibilities:
• Lead risk oversight for power trading portfolios, including open position monitoring, valuation controls, and mark-to-market (MTM) assessments
• Deliver daily analysis of key metrics such as P&L, VaR, and exposure across trading books
• Validate deals and pricing within the trading system, ensuring data integrity and compliance with internal risk policies
• Support reporting to senior management, including trading results and position summaries
• Collaborate with traders to identify and explain portfolio risk drivers
• Maintain and enhance risk models, test new calculations, and propose improvements to valuation accuracy
• Evaluate forward price movements and assess model assumptions against market fundamental
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline
• Strong understanding of risk management methodologies, MTM, VaR, and exposure metrics
• Experience in North American power markets, particularly ERCOT, PJM, and CAISO
• Familiarity with power pricing structures and external price validation
• Proficiency in tools such as Power BI, Python, or Alteryx
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work under tight deadlines
• Flexible with working hours to support trading operations
