We are looking for a Design Assistant to join our design team and support daily operations, client presentations, and project documentation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about interior design and client experience.
1. Site Visits & Documentation
- Visit job sites to measure spaces and document design details.
- Take reference photos during site visits.
- Create as-built drawings after visiting the site.
2. Schedules & Technical Documents
- Create and update finish schedules, plumbing, appliance, and lighting schedules.
- Prepare and organize Scopes of Work.
- Build final project presentation packages after client approval.
3. Project Follow-Up
- Visit job sites to ensure everything follows the approved design plan.
- Conduct 360° virtual tours and attend initial client meetings at their homes to understand their needs and bring information back to the team.
4. Meetings & Notes
- Prepare meeting agendas.
- Take detailed notes during meetings and share them with the design team.
5. Selections & BuilderTrend Updates
- Assist with selecting furniture, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, accessories, and other design elements.
- Add and update these selections in BuilderTrend, keeping all project data current.
6. Showroom & Client Walk-ins
- Welcome walk-in clients to the showroom.
- Provide showroom tours, explaining:
- How JL Home Projects operates
- The brands we carry (furniture, lighting, plumbing, accessories, etc.)
- Our custom millwork capabilities and in-house production
7. Client Presentations
- Support the design, preparation, and occasional client-facing delivery of presentation decks using tools such as Canva, DesignSpec, or other platforms used by the team.
8. Administrative Support
- Contact vendors for product information and place orders.
- Organize samples and materials in the office.
- Provide general administrative support when needed.
Requirements
- Previous experience in interior design or a related design field.
- Proficiency in Canva, or other design/drafting tools (preferred).
- Familiarity with BuilderTrend, Monday.com, or other project management platforms.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Fluent in English. Portuguese is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits.
Work Environment
- Full-time, on-site position at our Boca Raton showroom.
- Monday to Saturday schedule.

Pay: $36,400.00 - $37,500.00 per year
