POSITION OVERVIEW
The Assistant Controller plays a key role within the Finance team for the Fruit Division, with primary responsibility for general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and financial analysis for the Lynden manufacturing entity. This position ensures accurate financial reporting, effective cost controls, and data-driven insight to support operational decision-making. In addition to site-level responsibilities, the Assistant Controller provides broader financial and analytical support to the Finance Director for divisional initiatives, reporting, and process improvements across multiple manufacturing locations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Cost Accounting & Financial Management
· Maintains and analyzes standard costs for products, labor, and overhead.
· Monitors production variances, inventory adjustments, and cost of goods sold to ensure accuracy.
· Supports monthly and annual close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
· Prepares and analyze manufacturing performance metrics, variance reports, and margin analysis.
· Assists in developing annual budgets and forecasts for the Lynden facility.
Divisional Financial Support
· Provides financial analysis, modeling, and reporting to support the Finance Director and divisional leadership.
· Assists in consolidation of financial results across the division’s manufacturing sites.
· Participates in divisional projects to improve financial processes, systems, and internal controls.
· Supports audits and compliance activities as needed.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
· Partners with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to drive cost efficiency and improve profitability.
· Identifies and implements process improvements that enhance reporting accuracy and timeliness.
· Supports the implementation of ERP and business system enhancements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
· Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis
· Advanced Excel and ERP system experience (e.g., SAP, JD Edwards, or similar)
· Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
· Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-site, fast-paced environment.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· CPA or CMA designation
· Experience with QAD
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
· This position travels up to 20% of the time.

Pay: $105,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
