As a Mechanical Engineer at Scheffer International, you will work with project teams to help design innovative solutions to help our customers succeed. The design process requires research, testing and prototyping of concepts and devices to ensure proper fit within project requirements. Mechanical Engineer 1 is a supporting role to other team members while you grow in your knowledge of the printing industry as it relates to equipment and methods.
The Mechanical Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting mechanical plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Able to analyze information supplied to develop design requirements and concepts for mechanical equipment or systems.
- Analyze existing development or manufacturing procedures and suggest improvements.
- Recommend technical design or process changes to improve efficiency, quality, or performance.
- Work on process/mechanical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
- Design and drafting of manufactured components.
- Specifying purchased components and equipment.
- Plan in collecting field observations, reverse engineer mechanical upgrades from field measurements, perform detailed engineering calculations, checking installations, and problem-solving activities.
- Able to analyze information supplied to develop design requirements and concepts for mechanical equipment or systems.
- Build effective relationships with existing clients, customers and contractors and develop new business opportunities. Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar with experience.
- Knowledge of pneumatic systems and components.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of design codes (ASME, ANSI, PIP).
- Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Inventor 3D design software.
- Work effectively within 3D design environment to develop mechanical design solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to execute work and resolve issues in a team environment.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
