Position Summary
A leading children’s apparel company specializing in quality design, trusted partnerships, and innovative product development. Is looking for an associate designer. The Associate Designer will support the Design Team in creating and developing market-appropriate apparel for newborn, infant, and toddler categories. This role focuses heavily on Brick & Mortar accounts—including Walmart, JCPenney, and additional major retail partners—and requires strong organizational skills, a keen design eye, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
Design & Development
- Assist in the creation of seasonal product lines for newborn, infant, and toddler apparel.
- Support the design team in developing trend-right graphics, prints, colorways, trims, and silhouettes.
- Prepare and maintain detailed tech packs and CADs to ensure accuracy through development and production stages.
- Conduct trend and market research relevant to Brick + Mortar retailers (Walmart, JCP, etc.).
- Help assemble mood boards, presentation decks, and color palettes as needed.
Account Support (Brick + Mortar Focus)
- Create and revise artwork and design boards tailored to specific retailer needs and branding guidelines.
- Assist with preparing line sheets, design presentations, and samples for Walmart, JCPenney, and additional B+M partners.
- Collaborate with merchandising and sales teams to meet account-specific expectations and deadlines.
Administrative & Workflow Management
- Handle daily administrative responsibilities for the design team, including file organization, sample tracking, and artwork revisions.
- Maintain accurate archive of artwork files, color standards, fabrics, and reference materials.
- Support communication with cross-functional teams (production, merchandising, sales) to ensure smooth workflow and timely deliverables.
- Assist in organizing samples, preparing showroom displays, and supporting milestone meetings.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in apparel design, ideally within newborn, infant, and toddler categories.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; familiarity with CAD software a plus.
- Solid understanding of children’s wear trends, garment construction, and embellishment techniques.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
- Effective communicator who works well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of mass retail/Brick + Mortar account requirements (Walmart, JCP, etc.) preferred.
Salary $65,000-$70,000
