Purpose & Mandate The Vice President of Finance is a key finance leader responsible for driving forward-looking financial planning, analysis, and strategic insight to support company’s growth from a ~$250 million revenue platform toward a $1 billion+ enterprise.
Reporting directly to the CFO, this role supports M&A evaluation and strategic decision-making through data-driven financial modeling and analysis, oversees corporate forecasting and capital planning, and leads the FP&A function.
The VP of Finance plays a pivotal role in connecting financial performance to strategic outcomes — enabling strong execution, capital discipline, and shareholder value creation. This role will work closely with the CFO and CEO, the executive leadership team, and external stakeholders including company’s joint venture partners, private equity investors, and board members.
Key Responsibilities Corporate Forecasting & Strategy
- Own long-range corporate financial model, integrating project data, capital plans, and environmental credit forecasts.
- Support the CFO and CEO in refining the company’s shareholder value maximization strategy, including capital structure, leverage, and return on invested capital.
- Develop and maintain forward-looking financial scenarios incorporating RNG pricing, LCFS/RIN/45Z markets, CI scoring, and regulatory developments.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable financial targets and KPIs across business units.
M&A, Capital Planning & Investment Analysis
- Support the CFO and CEO in evaluating acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestitures aligned with growth strategy.
- Conduct valuation modeling (DCF, precedent, comparables), financial due diligence, and transaction analysis.
- Assist in capital raise processes, including debt, equity, and tax equity financing, preparing data rooms and investor materials.
- Lead ROI and IRR modeling for new RNG and power projects, expansions, and technology investments.
- Incorporate environmental attribute revenue streams (LCFS, RINs, carbon offsets, ITC/PTC credits) into valuation and project returns.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Governance
- Collaborate closely with Accounting, Tax, Legal, Operations, and Engineering to ensure accurate and aligned financial planning.
- Partner with VP, Tax & Accounting to integrate ITC, PTC, 45Z, depreciation, and other tax impacts into financial forecasts.
- Support ERP and business intelligence (BI) system improvements to enhance data accuracy and forecasting visibility.
- Prepare financial analyses and materials for CFO/CEO presentations to the Board, JV investors, and strategic partners.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead, develop, and mentor a 3–4 person FP&A team responsible for financial forecasts, budgets, and performance dashboards.
- Deliver monthly and quarterly reporting packages with insights on financial performance, variances, and key drivers.
- Partner with operations and project leaders to optimize plant-level economics, O&M margins, and cost structure.
- Enhance forecast accuracy and implement continuous improvement of financial reporting tools and processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required.
MBA or Master’s in Finance preferred; CFA, or similar credential a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong background in FP&A, project finance, M&A valuation, and capital planning.
- Direct experience in biogas or renewable energy preferred; energy infrastructure or investment banking with energy exposure strongly considered.
- Advanced financial modeling and scenario analysis capabilities (Excel and BI tools).
- Proven ability to lead small, high-performing teams in fast-paced, growth environments.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; capable of interacting effectively with executives, board members, and investors.
- Based full-time in Dallas, TX, with monthly travel to other offices, conferences, or investor meetings.
