Role Description
The Field Sales Leader is responsible for driving sales growth, supporting the Independent Operator (IO) network, and ensuring strong in-store execution across assigned routes. This role supports KSC’s rapid expansion in salty snacks, candy, chocolates, spices, teas, beverages, tortillas, and specialty Hispanic food categories.
This is a high-visibility, hands-on position that works directly with retailers, independent operators, and internal teams to grow volume, expand market presence, and strengthen customer relationships. Because KSC serves diverse Hispanic communities, cultural understanding and Spanish language proficiency are highly valuable, though not required.
Essential Job Functions
• Recruit, onboard, and support new Independent Operators for assigned territories.
• Partner with existing IOs to increase sales volume, product penetration, route efficiency, and overall performance.
• Conduct regular visits to retailers and build strong relationships with market, district, and store managers.
• Represent KSC in major retailers, including Fry’s/Kroger, Albertsons, Bashas’, and Walmart, to ensure best-in-class execution.
• Increase sales in existing accounts by identifying opportunities for new placements, promotions, and expanded assortments.
• Prepare and present sales information, category insights, and market trends to retailers and internal stakeholders.
• Secure and place product orders, managing lead times, delivery schedules, and inventory requirements.
• Complete weekly retail and market recaps using internal tools, including audits, competitive reviews, and execution summaries.
• Track ongoing market conditions, retailer needs, and route opportunities, providing insights and recommendations.
• Support retail displays, promotional execution, seasonal programs, and in-store merchandising.
• Cover open routes as needed to ensure consistent service to retail partners.
• Perform periodic deliveries using cargo vans and non-CDL box trucks.
• Maintain organized records, route files, sales reports, and compliance documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• 1–5 years of experience in food CPG, DSD, route sales, retail execution, or merchandising.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and customer service skills.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Spanish proficiency is a strong plus, but not required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical aspects of merchandising and route support.
• Comfort with handheld devices, internal systems, and reporting tools.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to bend, kneel, squat, and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate cargo vans and non-CDL box trucks.
• Frequent travel to retail locations and IO route areas.
Work Environment
• Field-based role with daily travel throughout the assigned territory.
• Typical schedule: Monday–Friday; early morning start times are standard in retail/DSD.
• Work performed in retail stores, distribution environments, and onboard vehicles.
• Fast-paced, growth-oriented environment with frequent interaction with retailers and Independent Operators.
