Mechanical Engineer
Long Term Contract Position
Location: Santa Clara, CA

Job Description:
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Setting up lab equipment, tools, and prototype materials
- Preparing assembly areas for specific prototype builds
- Procuring parts for projects
- Assembling robots, including mechanical structures, electro-mechanical components, and wiring harnesses
- Tracking work-in-progress (WIP) and finished projects
- Taking instructions from engineers to assemble prototype devices
- Providing feedback on assembly processes to improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Collecting data on components and finished goods for engineers
- Troubleshooting down to the component level
- Executing complex, detailed test procedures and obtaining mechanical measurements with minimal supervision
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical assembly and testing of consumer electronics or industrial grade components
- Ability to read and understand component and assembly drawings
- Experience managing multiple deadlines and working across teams
- Experience planning and maintaining lab facilities for optimal efficiency
- Ability to develop new processes when necessary
- Experience with lab safety, security, and quality practices
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree (AS) in Engineering or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience assembling electro-mechanical devices and systems (e.g., consumer electronics, robots, computers)
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics
- Experience using hand and power tools for assembly
- Proven troubleshooting skills for defective devices
- Soldering experience with small components on printed circuit boards
- Ability to use digital multimeters and oscilloscopes for troubleshooting
- Experience performing device-level functional tests
- Ability to set up test stations, conduct tests, and collect relevant data
- Proficiency in MS Office and Excel
- Experience with SolidWorks is a plus
- Ability to follow verbal instructions, production drawings, and sample assemblies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience organizing and maintaining calibrated stocks of critical test equipment
