About The Role
We’re seeking a
Robotics Engineering Intern, Mechanical (NPI) next spring/summer to support our manufacturing and engineering teams in building and testing Contoro’s palletization solution. This internship is ideal for students or recent graduates in engineering who are eager to gain hands-on experience with computer vision, embedded systems, mechanical assembly, and system-level testing in a fast-paced startup environment. You'll work directly with experienced engineers and technicians and play a key role in Contoro’s new product introduction (NPI) process, including prototyping, iteration, and validation across both hardware and software components.
Job Responsibilities
- Support integration of cameras, sensors, actuators, and control hardware
- Assist with mechanical and electrical assembly of robotic components, wiring, and sub-systems
- Perform system-level testing and help troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues
- Collaborate with technicians and engineers to interpret assembly documentation and drawings
- Contribute to design iterations across the full stack, from mechanism design to firmware and software refinements
Qualifications/Requirements
Required:
- Actively pursuing or recently completed a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- Some hands-on experience (coursework, projects, or internships) in hardware prototyping, assembly, or testing
- Familiarity with mechanical tools, wiring, and electrical components
- Eagerness to learn in a collaborative and hands-on environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Chance of up to 30% travel needed
Preferred:
- Experience with robotics projects (personal, academic, or work-related)
- Exposure to SolidWorks and basic programming (Python)
- Exposure to design simple operator interfaces
- Previous internship or co-op in a manufacturing or hardware startup
