Summary/Objective
The process engineer position is responsible for determining operations to produce products and develops processes to ensure quality, cost and efficiency requirements are met. This position troubleshoots problems with production and takes corrective action. The process engineer also researches the purchase of equipment or upgrades to existing equipment.
Essential Functions

1. Assures specific quality guidelines are met and, if necessary, takes appropriate actions and measures to rectify quality issues.
2. Maintains a safe and clean work area.
3. Reduces technical downtime and increases technical availability.
4. Responsible lead for process parameters, definition and documentation.
5. Serves as the lead for problem solving regarding welding and joining process parameters, diagnosing hardware and software.
6. Implements cost analysis process in welding (scrap reduction).
7. Supports and trains process technicians on robot tasks and problem-solving techniques for welding issues.
8. Responsible for process flow of engineering changes and introduction of those into production.
9. Responsible for all “OK to build” items towards PPAP approval.
10. Performs root cause analysis on re-occurring problems.
11. Follows all guidelines set forth in our 5s training.
12. Manage all new incoming projects from inception to completion.
13. Other duties and responsibilities can be assigned based on company needs and skills level.

Physical Demands

is occasionally required to climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. In order to meet our customer’s demands this role may be required to perform work outside of business hours including weekends.
Travel
Occasional travel required to suppliers for tasks including, but not limited to, packaging reviews.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in technical related field
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in manufacturing environment relevant to the function
Minimum of three (3) years of experience related to manufacturing process optimization
Working experience related to the following products:
a) Resistance and Projection Welding of steel and aluminum (Harms-Wende)
b) Drawn Arc Welding (Emhart Tucker)
c) Capacitor Discharge Welding
d) Glue application (SCA)
e) (Stud) Clinching, Riveting operations (Tox, Profil, Rifast)
f) Laser Welding (Trumpf TruDisk, Scansonic ALO3)
g) CMT MIG Brazing (Fronius)
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in technical related field such as industrial, manufacturing or mechanical engineering
Tier 1 automotive experience
Bilingual – German
4. Knowledge of the metric system and metric/European standard machine components.
