What You'll Do
We’re looking for a Sr Product Consult to join our retirement product Investment team. In this role you’ll lead strategic initiatives and high-visibility investment projects to successful completion. Manage and strengthen internal and third-party relationships that support Principal Financial Group’s investment products and services. Drive development and implementation of new investment offerings while providing training, clear communications, and support to sales teams, financial professionals, retirement plan clients, participants, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage third-party, and internal, relationships to deliver product efficiency for managed accounts. Oversee workflows to ensure quality and timeliness.
- Serve as primary liaison and escalation point between vendors and internal business partners.
- Track and analyze vendor performance, providing leadership with insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Drive strategic initiatives with third-party firms and internal teams (finance, IT, compliance, sourcing) including contract management, performance metrics, budget adherence, risk mitigation, and due diligence.
- Control costs and mitigate expense increases without disrupting operations.
- Lead product and service enhancements, partnering with cross-functional teams to implement improvements or launch new offerings.
- Collaborate with sourcing on vendor selection and contract reviews. Evaluate suppliers based on experience, capacity, quality, and financial stability. Advocate for business needs and cost limits.

Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Business, related field) or equivalent experience with 7+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational ability, leadership, math, decision-making, time-management, project management, and analytical skills.
- Capable of delivering formal presentations to internal and external audiences.
- Customer service orientation with general knowledge of investment markets, products, services, operations, and systems.
- Knowledge of managed accounts and related processes.
- High level of confidentiality, professionalism, and business ethics.
Skills That Will Help You Stand Out:
- Advanced degree and/or FINRA Series 7 and 66
- Leadership and mentoring skills demonstrated through guiding cross-functional teams and supporting colleague development.
- Ability to communicate and influence ideas and recommendations effectively.
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range
$116000 - $136000 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
