Fantastic Opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join a fantastic manufacturer in the Greater Willowbrook IL area! In this role, you will own new product development projects, support design for manufacturing initiatives, design and perform product testing matrices, lead interdepartmental troubleshooting and design teams, and show initiative in providing solutions for continuous improvement in the engineering department. This role will require the individual to perform these tasks with little oversight and report out on progress and challenges weekly.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead engineer on design projects within engineering; responsible for design and project management (schedule, action items, budget) as well as periodic status reports
- Using CAD software, design detailed components and their associated drawings and assemblies
- Perform and present phase design reviews with both internal staff, as well as with customers at specific times in the NPD process
- Design and produce custom solutions for customers
- Responsible for bringing projects to completion by managing the actions and timing of external vendors and multiple manufacturing departments
- Provide technical and modeling support for creation, publishing, and distribution of technical product manuals and other support literature or documentation
- Support supply chain and quality assurance with first article inspection reports and design changes to meet changing supplier specifications
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed mechanical designs using CAD software, translating concepts into precise schematics and drawings.
- Conduct mechanical analysis including FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to validate design integrity under operational conditions.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate system design elements, ensuring seamless functionality across electrical, software, and mechanical domains.
- Perform root cause analysis on mechanical failures or inefficiencies, implementing corrective actions to enhance system reliability.
- Manage project scheduling to meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards throughout the development lifecycle.
- Utilize programming tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW, Arduino, and C/C++ for control system development and automation tasks.
- Ensure all designs adhere to ASME codes & standards, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and industry best practices for manufacturing and safety compliance.
KEYS TO THIS OPPORTUNITY
- Bachelors in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years’ professional experience designing mechanical devices through the entire product design lifecycle
- Excellent organization skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects and report progress and necessary corrective actions
- Proficient with CAD software, MS Office, and data management concepts
- Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the company, both written and verbal, and competency presenting testing results
- Desire to work on projects and teams demanding fast prototyping and production startups
- Familiarity with iterative design principles and communicating design rational

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
