Product Support Engineer

Allied Mobile Systems, a thriving and rapidly expanding company and is a privately owned subsidiary of The Godwin Group based in Dunn, NC. The Product Support Engineer reports directly to the company’s general manager. The successful candidate will lead projects for new products, as well as projects to improve functionality of existing products. Some projects will require you to independently lead from concept through implementation. Other projects will require work with a team to support and develop our mobile electronic and hydraulic control systems. You will also support legacy products. Starting wage is $65,000 and upwards based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
You will work with documentation and drawings to support our products. You will work with software programs including Parker IQAN and troubleshoot electronic control systems.
At Allied, we don’t sit in a design room and develop what we think the customer wants.
Instead, we seek their input and work with key customers to develop products and functionality to meet the needs as they define. Many of our products are conceived, designed, and implemented as a joint project with key customers.

QUALIFICATIONS
· Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or similar Engineering discipline is desired, BUT NOT REQUIRED.
· Education and/or Experience or a combination of the two will also be considered.
· Experience with engineering related to electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic controls
· Training and/or Experience with control logic programming. Experience with IQAN software is a major plus.
· Experience and/or knowledge of hydraulic systems is a plus.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn outside of existing areas of expertise.
· Experience in project design implementation and leading projects.
· Good oral and written communication skills and ability to work with a variety of roles including intercompany employees, vendors, our distributors, and the end customers who use our products. Ability to work with customers in roles from hands on roles up to top level managers.
· Must have the ability to listen to customers and seek to understand their needs to determine how we can make our products meet those needs.
· Willing to work in fast paced setting, able to handle change, and the creative energy to solve problems.
· CDL license is a plus, or willingness to obtain a CDL license
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Self-starter requiring limited supervision
- Good communication and organization skills
- Skilled user of Microsoft Office Products
- Experience of troubleshooting electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
- Familiarity with electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings
- Familiarity with programmable controls. (IQAN experience is a plus)
- Familiarity with telematics and location technologies is desired
- Familiarity with CAN bus technologies is desirable
- Willingness to do hands-on work when needed
- Willingness to get dirty occasionally.
- Willingness to learn and work outside of box
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead projects from design through implementation with customers, including prototype build, testing, and establishment of specifications to achieve required performance, reliability, manufacturability, and market competitiveness
- Preparation of product manuals and training materials, and documents technical aspects of projects
- Identify product performance and cost improvements
- Work with cross-functional team (design, manufacturing plant personnel, purchasing, distributors, and customers) in support of new projects and existing systems
- Some overnight travel is required (customer visits, trade shows, etc.)
KEY RESPSPONSBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION
· Serve as a technical resource for product-related support, with a focus on hydraulic systems and components.
· Troubleshoot complex field issues and deliver timely, effective technical solutions to customers, service technicians, and internal teams.
· Analyze product failures and returned components to recommend design improvements or revised service procedures.
· Lead or support root cause analysis (RCA) investigations, implementing corrective actions to address product quality concerns.
· Collaborate with VP of Engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve customer issues and enhance product performance.
· Support new product development and launches through validation testing, field trials, installation assistance, and technical feedback.
· Responsible for creating accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) to support production and inventory planning.
· Design, develop, and implement new or improved product solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams and customers.
· Manage prototype builds, including coordination of testing and validation processes.
· Provide training on product operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting to customers, field service teams, and internal staff.
· Responsible for preparing and updating product manuals, installation guides, training materials, and technical documentation for Allied products and projects.
· Identify and drive opportunities to enhance product performance, increase reliability, and reduce costs.
· Collaborate cross-functionally with senior leadership, engineering, manufacturing, sales and procurement teams to adapt to evolving product specifications and customer needs.
· Travel to customer sites for hands-on technical support, software updates, diagnostics, and field issue resolution while representing the company in a professional manner.
· Supplier Sourcing & Research
o Identify, research, and evaluate potential new suppliers or vendors.
o Assess suppliers based on criteria such as cost, quality, delivery time, reliability, compliance, and capacity.
o Request and review proposals, quotations, and samples.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with safety regulations and best practices. Adhere to company safety procedures and quality control protocols.
· Adhering to scheduled work hours, including after-hours responsibilities when required, is essential to maintaining team productivity and ensure consistent operational coverage.
