Role :- IBM MQ Series FTE z/OS Admin System Programmer
Location :- Salisbury, NC/Boston, MA/Frisco, TX (Onsite)
Key Responsibilities:
- MQ Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain IBM MQ Series and MQ FTE on z/OS
- Manage MQ objects including queue managers, queues, channels, and cluster configurations.
- Monitor MQ performance and availability, applying tuning techniques to optimize throughput and reduce latency
- Upgrade Support:
- Plan and execute upgrades of MQ Series and FTE components on z/OS.
- Perform compatibility checks, regression testing, and rollback planning.
- Coordinate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure minimal disruption during upgrades.
- Document upgrade procedures and maintain version control records.
- Security & Compliance:
- Implement and manage MQ security protocols including TLS/SSH certificates, RACF integration, and security exits
- Ensure compliance with internal and industry standards for secure messaging.
- System Programming & Integration:
- Support integration of MQ with CICS, DB2, IMS, and other z/OS subsystems
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using REXX, JCL, or Assembler for MQ operations.
- Disaster Recovery & High Availability:
- Design and implement MQ Queue Sharing Groups and RESLEVEL configurations for high availability
- Support disaster recovery planning and testing for MQ environments.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with application developers, infrastructure teams, and support staff to troubleshoot and resolve MQ-related issues
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Documentation & Process Improvement:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of MQ configurations, procedures, and best practices.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Technical Expertise:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with IBM MQ on z/OS.
- Deep understanding of MQ Queue Sharing Groups, FTE configurations, and MQ monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with COBOL, REXX, and other language tools
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in hybrid team environments.
- Preferred Certifications:
- IBM MQ Administrator Certification.
- Experience in financial or regulated industries is a plus.
