Overview:
Avyon Consulting Group Inc. is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer IV to support Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) programs within the National Airspace System (NAS) under the ATEPS II contract vehicle.
This role supports FAA Air Traffic Control (ATC) modernization efforts and requires deep technical expertise across NAS systems, including ATC automation, communications, navigation, and surveillance. The Systems Engineer IV will play a key role in evaluating legacy systems, supporting modernization initiatives, and providing system-level engineering analysis to inform FAA decision-making.
This is a senior-level role intended for engineers with extensive FAA/NAS experience who can operate independently and provide technical leadership within integrated program teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive, system-wide reviews and analyses across all phases of the NAS development life cycle
- Analyze and assess Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems, including automation, communications, navigation, and surveillance components
- Provide engineering expertise supporting the transition of legacy NAS systems to modernized architectures
- Evaluate system performance, risks, dependencies, and integration impacts across NAS domains
- Support FAA program and engineering teams with technical assessments, recommendations, and decision-ready documentation
- Participate in system engineering reviews, modernization planning, and technical working groups
- Develop and review technical documentation, analyses, and reports supporting FAA governance and oversight
- Collaborate with government and contractor stakeholders across multi-disciplinary teams
- Act independently or as a senior member of an integrated program team providing expert-level guidance
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience supporting FAA, NAS, or ATC system engineering efforts
- Strong understanding of NAS architecture, ATC automation, and aviation systems modernization
- Ability to perform system-level analysis and translate technical findings into actionable recommendations
- Experience working within government contracts and regulated federal environments
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to operate with minimal supervision in a senior technical role
Education Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution(Civil, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Aeronautical, Industrial, Chemical, or Computer Engineering)
Experience Level
- Systems Engineer IV:15–19 years of relevant experience supporting complex systems engineering efforts(FAA/NAS/ATC experience strongly preferred)

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
