About Hop Aero
Hop Aero is building the physical internet - we operate at the intersection of aerospace, national security, and hard execution.
This is not a research project. We build hardware, test it aggressively, learn fast, and iterate. The work is demanding, the environment is unforgiving, and the stakes are real. We are looking for people who want to contribute to protecting our way of life - not just spectating.
About the role
This is a boots-on-the-ground engineering role. You will be physically present at our test site, helping turn designs into hardware and hardware into flight-tested systems. This is not a desk-only role. You will be a multi-disciplinary engineer splitting their time between CAD, the workshop, and the test site in the field.
We are looking for someone who gets satisfaction from finishing things, solving problems under real constraints, and taking direct ownership of their team's progress.
What you’ll do
- Support day-to-day field and test operations at our Oklahoma test site.
- Assemble, modify, and maintain test hardware and ground support equipment.
- Execute test procedures, checklists, and pre- and post-test activities.
- Perform hands-on fabrication including drilling, fitting, basic welding, and assembly.
- Create and modify CAD models and drawings for test hardware and fixtures.
- Troubleshoot issues during testing and implement practical fixes quickly.
- Coordinate closely with the rest of the engineering team to feed lessons learned back into design.
What we’re looking for
- 3-5 years relevant experience
- Strong bias toward execution.
- Comfortable being uncomfortable: Working at the test site, tackling challenges every day, willing to learn from and teach others.
- Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, NX, or similar) - experience with rapid prototyping is a huge plus.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude, you can build things without needing step-by-step instructions
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
- Willingness to relocate to or already be based in Oklahoma
Nice to have
- Aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing background
- Experience with test operations, field ops, or flight test support
- Military or veteran background is a huge plus
- Welding, machining, or composite experience
