Summary
We are seeking a Development Manager to lead and execute all fundraising, donor engagement, and community outreach efforts. Based in Memphis, this pivotal team member will help advance our mission of helping veterans help themselves by expanding our support network and securing vital resources.
Responsibilities
The Development Manager will be responsible for:
- Develop and implement strategic fundraising plans to meet organizational goals and build sustainable revenue streams that support Alpha Omega
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors, partners, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
- Oversee grant writing and proposal development to secure funding.
- Participates in United Way campaign activities and agency fairs.
- Manage signature fundraisers, special events and campaigns to raise awareness and funds.
- Manage and coordinate events with the volunteer coordinator.
- Coordinate community outreach initiatives.
- Monitor and report on fundraising performance metrics.
- Collaborate with staff to align development activities with organizational objectives.
- Frequently travel locally and work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, public administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3–5 years of professional or nonprofit fundraising or development experience.
- Demonstrated success in planning events, fundraising, securing sponsorships, and cultivating donors.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge and experience using donor management software preferred.
- Experience working with veterans or social service organizations is a plus.
- Strong negotiation, relationship management, and strategic planning skills.
- Excellent written communication skills for grant proposals and reports.
- Commitment to the mission of Alpha Omega Veterans Services and a passion for serving veterans.
