Social Media & PR Intern
Location: Brooklyn, NY (in-person required)
Schedule: ~20 hrs/week | Part-time | Monthly stipend + school credit
Timeline: Now through Fall 2025 (with potential extension into January 2026 and additional summer hours)
About the Role
Bernard James Fine Jewelry is seeking a highly reliable, detail-driven Social Media & PR Intern to support our growing communications efforts. This is a hands-on role within a small team, not an observational internship.
You will be trusted with real responsibilities that directly impact how the brand shows up publicly - from content planning and execution to PR logistics and reporting. The right candidate is organized, visually sharp, culturally aware, and comfortable managing tasks independently once trained.
This role is best suited for someone who wants to learn by doing, cares deeply about quality, and understands that consistency matters as much as creativity.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Researching cultural moments, platform trends, and relevant references to inform social strategy
- Managing the social content calendar, scheduling posts, and engaging thoughtfully with our community
- Assisting with weekly content capture and basic editing (photo + video)
- Supporting monthly performance reporting and insights (what’s working, what’s not, why)
- Coordinating PR pulls - including tracking, packing, shipping, and returns of fine jewelry
- Logging press coverage and maintaining organized media clippings
- Supporting influencer gifting and outreach efforts
- Assisting with events, brand activations, and in-store moments
- Supporting our publicist with campaign execution and media research
- Researching potential partnerships and collaborations aligned with the brand
This Role Is a Good Fit If You:
- Are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, PR, or a related field
- Are highly organized and dependable - deadlines and follow-through matter here
- Have strong written communication skills and a sharp eye for visual consistency
- Are fluent in Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok, and curious about emerging platforms
- Can work independently, ask thoughtful questions, and take ownership of tasks
- Care about getting details right, especially when handling valuable product
- Are interested in fashion, design, culture, or luxury (prior jewelry experience not required)
This Role Is Not a Fit If You:
- Are looking for a passive, portfolio-only, or influencer-style internship
- Need constant oversight to complete tasks
- Are uncomfortable with structure, logistics, or responsibility
- Are primarily interested in personal branding over brand building
