We are currently seeking a full-time Exhibit Fabricator to join our team.
Job Description
Exhibit Fabricators (Scenic Carpenters) use a wide variety of materials and fabrication processes to create and assemble new interactive exhibits and structures using detailed construction drawings, a large variety of tools and machinery, jigs, and templates. Fabricators Drafters coordinate with Project Managers, Drafters, Designers, CNC operators, Metal Fabricators, Painters, Outside Vendors, and other fellow Exhibit Fabricators throughout this process.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Build exhibits and displays using both common and unusual materials as required to satisfy the demands of the project.
- Operate standard shop tools and various hand power tools required in the fabrication and assembly of final products.
- Install finished exhibit structures at final locations both domestically and internationally as required.
- Perform general maintenance on tools and equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, maintaining OSHA compliance through work practice
- Attendance, promptness, professionalism, the ability to pay attention to detail, cooperativeness with co-workers and managers, and politeness to clients and vendors.
- Other duties or special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience and training in a cabinet shop or similar fabrication or construction position
- Possess cabinet making and fine carpentry skills of cutting, joining and preparing wood, plywood, and various plastics
- Ability to read and interpret engineering, production and shop drawings and define parts from those drawings to be able to machine and assemble parts as required
- Thorough knowledge and a high level of skill using hand tools, power tools, various saws, routers, drills, etc.
- Ability to integrate and troubleshoot various mechanical and electromechanical components and apparatus in the exhibits.
- Must have a strong attention to detail, note taking, and organization
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects and work from lifts, ladders and high platforms
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Inventive spirit, initiative to work alone without direct supervision, and be responsible for timely completion of assigned tasks
- Good communication skills, positive attitude, and be able to succeed in a team environment
- Occasional travel is required, ranging from 4 to 6 weeks per year
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
