Position OverviewThe Residential CAD Drafter / Junior Designer supports the design team throughout all phases of residential projects, from conceptual design through construction documentation. This role is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented drafter/designer who is eager to grow technically, creatively, and professionally within a high-caliber residential practice.
You will work closely with senior designer and principal, contributing to drawings, models, presentations, and documentation while learning the full lifecycle of custom residential design.
JOB DESCRIPTIONWe are seeking a skilled Residential CAD Drafter / Junior Designer with hands-on experience in custom residential design and construction documentation. Proficiency in Chief Architect and / or Revit. Minimum of 2 years experience, with strong foundational understanding of residential construction preferred.
This role focuses on CAD production support, translating hand-drawn sketches and design direction into accurate, well-organized drawing sets for custom homes, renovations and additions. Formal architectural degrees are not required; practical and reliable experience, technical proficiency, and attention to detail are essential.
Hybrid role opportunity for experienced person: work with the Design Studio 3–4 days per week and remote the other 1–2 days. Will consider remote employment, based upon demonstration of experience level and proficiency.

JOB REQUIREMENTSProficiency in Chief Architect and / or Revit

Key ResponsibilitiesFocus on reliability, listening, learning, and precision.
Produce residential design development and construction drawings in 3D CAD, under senior designer direction.
Draft floor plans, roof plans, electrical plans, elevations, sections, and details, etc.
Assist in the development of CAD drafting of architectural designs and drawings using software such as Chief Architect or Revit.
Gain on the job real world experience in residential design.
Learn Senior Designer, Jenny Pippin’s, design methodology to provide future input into client design projects.
Participate in project research, including site analysis, code compliance, zoning regulations, and other requirements to ensure designs meet regulations with State and County.
Support Jenny Pippin (Senior Designer) & Wes (Lead CAD Tech) with project development, as needed.
Attend and contribute to internal project meetings and occasional client meetings.
Attend prospect interviews, client presentations, and site visits.
Collaborate with team members to brainstorm and develop creative design solutions and marketing solutions.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients after initial training period, providing clear communication on project status, milestones, and any design or scope changes throughout the process.
Coordinate and communicate with engineers, interior designers, and builders to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment across all project phases.
Engage in various work assignments structured to enable other team members to gain the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform at a professional level in the industry in the future.
High level of accuracy required on all drafting and communication documents.
Implement redlines and revisions accurately and efficiently.
Maintain clean, organized CAD files and drawing standards.
Help track drawing progress and deadlines.
Ability to manage and track multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

- You prefer rigid, narrowly defined tasks and are not open to varied responsibilities that support both professional project work and daily studio operations.
- You are uncomfortable with occasional client-facing exposure, including observing meetings, presentations, or site visits as part of professional growth.
- You are not motivated by precision, organization, and long-term professional development within a boutique residential practice.
