About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to drive improvements in our manufacturing processes. In this role, you will apply your expertise in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical controls, as well as PLC programming, to support projects focused on the repair, upgrade, and replacement of facility equipment. Your analytical skills and experience with lean techniques will be crucial in optimizing production, reducing waste, and enhancing overall efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead process improvements using lean methodologies such as Kaizen and VSM, focusing on productivity gains, labor optimization, and quality enhancements.
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize product variability, waste, and operational costs through detailed process optimization trials and thorough troubleshooting.
- Lead training sessions for plant operators and leaders on standard production execution, emphasizing colleague safety, product quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to establish a Critical Process Equipment (CPE) Program, ensuring all CPE items are regularly audited and well-maintained.
- Work with the Reliability Engineer and Quality teams to deploy comprehensive VQS on each piece of equipment, optimizing process parameters to meet desired quality and product certification standards.
- Contribute to new product development efforts by collaborating with the Product Engineer on testing, prototypes, and samples related to the production process.
- Ensure adherence to existing Standard Operating Conditions (SOC) and develop and track SOC for all major equipment, establishing and monitoring min/max ranges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) required.
- Demonstrated success in cycle time optimization and identifying cost savings.
- Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Strong understanding of plastics materials, manufacturing processes, and machinery operations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including knowledge of electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, air compressors, chillers, and PLCs.
- 5+ years of experience in plastic blow molding.
- Ability to troubleshoot machine maintenance issues effectively.
- Proficiency in documenting work practices and communicating them to colleagues.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required.
