Position Summary:
Carbon2Cobalt is seeking a Technical Designer / Product Developer to support our Apparel Design and Merchandising team. This is a unique opportunity to combine technical design expertise with product development, working alongside experienced merchants and designers. A strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and development is essential. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, sharp attention to detail, and a flexible, collaborative approach.
Responsibilities:
Technical Designer and Product Developer, Men's Woven Shirts (134)
- Receive sketch and initial design brief from Designer. Compose into Initial TP and submit for internal approvals.
- Manage Initial TP and communicate with Vendors / expedite incoming prototypes.
- Process, fit and document PS1 Samples through Top of Production Samples.
- Initiate and manage fit, construction, materials correction process directly with overseas vendors.
- Track style status with vendors, ensuring resubmits are sent in a timely manner.
- Attend and collaborate in meetings relating to product adds, departmental initiatives and analysis /understanding of marketplace competition that would inform c2c product initiatives.
Sample and Materials Management:
- Retrieve incoming prototypes sent from vendor daily and initiate internal processing including sample measurement, fabric and trims analysis.
- Direct overseas vendors partners in the sourcing and acquisition of and approval of trims and product dye/wash techniques.
- File and update tagging on samples on Seasonal Garment Racks.
- Notify team of samples to be fit and evaluated during fit/review periods.
- Co-Facilitation of end of season sample giveaways.
- Filing and organization of swatch library, trims/buttons logs, materials.
Admin:
- Detail costing, care/content, garment details in areas of oversight for copy, proto and component status, and factory notes on Sample Status charts.
- TOP Sample hand off to Distribution Center quality team.
- QC report evaluation/approvals and documentation.
- Take flat photos of each prototype and add to Working Boards folder (PS1 through Photo Sample)
- Initiate and manage distribution of seasonal carryover specs for given category.
- Review catalog details for product copy / pricing accuracy for given category prior to catalog printing, each drop.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent.
- Experience: 3 years+ of experience in Apparel Product Development, related field, or related apparel degree. Knowledge of garment patternmaking, grading, and fit as well as a strong understanding of apparel quality standards and construction. Deep understanding of and respect for the nuances involved in working with overseas vendor partners and global business cultures.
- Technical Systems: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Illustrator, Basic flat photography skills.

Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively across departments and independently prioritize tasks based on business needs. - Availability: 8am-5pm PST, M-F, with flexibility to accommodate deadlines.

Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations.
Pay Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000
