The Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT) is an applied technology organization and demonstration and training center that supports the manufacturing industry by validating, demonstrating, and scaling the adoption of advanced technologies, enhancing supply chain resiliency, and providing talent development and training to the U.S. Government, OEMs, Tier 1 Suppliers, and the supply base.
CCAT partners with federal and state agencies—including the DOD, DOE, NASA, SBA, and USDOC—through government-funded and commercial programs that support both defense and civilian manufacturing. Current focus areas include additive manufacturing, composites, advanced design, automation, metrology, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
Position Title: Sr. Engineer, CTO Office
Position Summary: The Sr. Engineer supports the Chief Technology Officer in shaping and executing CCAT’s technology vision and strategy to support the advanced manufacturing ecosystem for Connecticut and the region.
Key Responsibilities:
· Supports technology strategy development and road mapping collaborating with CTO and Principal Engineer.
· Performs technical research on proposals and programs and technical proposal development working with CTO and Principal Engineer.
· Interacts with technology, talent, and training teams and analyzes program documentation for collecting information and input for new concepts and activities for new proposals.
· Supports technology partnership development and strategic partnership development with federal agencies, national labs, industrial partners, and academic institutions.
· Develops standard methods and processes for conducting business in the CTO office that includes onboarding new business and technology partners.
· Performs engineering planning and analysis and special engineering projects.
· Conducts technical training when needed to support the Training Team.
· Supports the preparation of technical publications and CCAT technical content to build CCAT thought leadership.
· Supports the preparation of communications for CTO and Principal Engineer for presentations and published materials.
· Supports CCAT representation at national conferences, meetings, and speaking engagements on behalf of the CTO office.
· Adhere to all CCAT safety policies, procedures, and laboratory protocols to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
· Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education: Master’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, technology, or related field.
Required Qualifications:
· Minimum of 8 years of engineering and technical experience in applied research, technology commercialization, or advanced manufacturing.
· Demonstrated technical experience in one or more of the following areas: data science, artificial intelligence, autonomous manufacturing, engineering design, systems modeling and simulation, smart manufacturing, additive manufacturing, or nondestructive testing
· Demonstrated success in the design and implementation of technology programs, products or services.
· Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.
· Clear and concise written, verbal communications, and presentation skills.
· Must fulfill ITAR citizenship requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working with or supporting the aerospace, defense, or naval manufacturing sectors preferred.
· Experience working with DoD programs, OTAs, federal agencies, OEMs, national labs, and the small business ecosystem preferred.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
This is a full-time, onsite executive role with a standard Monday–Friday schedule and flexibility for early mornings, evenings, or occasional travel. The role requires regular computer use, meetings, public speaking, and occasional visits to labs, partner sites, or national events.
