This role creates protective and functional packaging (like boxes, displays) from corrugated cardboard, focusing on form, fit, and material strength using CAD software, balancing client branding with manufacturing efficiency and cost, involving tasks from initial sketches to final die-lines for production. They bridges sales, graphics, and manufacturing, ensuring designs protect the product while meeting retail demands.

Core Responsibilities

· Design & Prototyping: Develops packaging (RSCs, mailers, trays, displays) using specialized software.

· CAD & Dyeline’s: Creates precise flat patterns (dyeline’s) with cuts, folds, and scores for production.

· Material Selection: Chooses appropriate corrugated board (flute type, strength) for product needs.

· Collaboration: Works with sales, graphic designers, and production to meet project goals.

· Structural Integrity: Ensures designs protect products during transit and handling.

· Cost-Effectiveness: Optimizes designs for efficient production and material usage.

· Support production press side during production operations.

· Order cutting dies for production

· Transfer files to customers/add agencies

· Make sales calls and customer presentations

· Perform various industry testing methods

Required Skills & Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED/Associate's Degree

3-5 years of direct experience with structural design in packaging manufacturing environment.

Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Artios CAD, Adobe Illustrator).

Understanding of corrugated board properties and manufacturing processes.

Proficiency in the following computer software: Windows, Excel, Outlook, Adobe

Ability to see and work in a 3D environment

Basic math skills

Problem-solving and analytical skills.

Attention to detail for accurate dyelines creation.

Ability to work within a team atmosphere on a project basis in a fast-paced environment.

Machines/Tools/Equipment:

Windows based computer system, copy/fax, CAD program, CAD Table, various testing equipment, basic hand tools including dead blow hammer, knives, tape guns and hot glue guns
