Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) – Design / Design-Assist / Design-Build

Gross Electric is a leading industrial electrical contractor specializing in complex projects across semiconductor, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and data center markets. We self-perform large-scale work and leverage in-house BIM/VDC and prefabrication to drive efficiency, safety, and schedule.
We are building out our design and design-build capabilities and are looking for a licensed Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) to play a key role in that growth.
Position Overview
This role will lead and support electrical design efforts across design-build, design-assist, and preconstruction engagements. You will work directly with our preconstruction, VDC, and operations teams to develop practical, constructible, and cost-effective electrical solutions.
This is not a pure consulting role — this is a builder’s engineer who understands how drawings translate to the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design for design-build and design-assist projects
- Support preconstruction with:
- Conceptual design
- Budgeting and system selection
- Value engineering / constructability reviews
Produce and/or oversee:
- One-lines, power plans, lighting, grounding, and system layouts
- Medium voltage and low voltage system design
Collaborate with:
- VDC/BIM team (LOD 300–400 modeling coordination)
- Project Managers and Superintendents for constructability
- Interface with clients, engineers, and vendors during design development
- Review drawings for accuracy, coordination, and code compliance
- Stamp drawings as required
- Support procurement of long-lead equipment and system selections
- Assist in building and standardizing our internal design processes
Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) (NY preferred or ability to obtain)
- 5–15+ years of electrical design experience
Background in one or more:
- Industrial / manufacturing
- Pharmaceutical / life sciences
- Data centers
- Semiconductor
Strong understanding of:
- Power distribution (LV/MV)
- NEC and applicable codes
- Equipment and system selection
Experience with:
- Design-build or design-assist delivery methods
- Revit, AutoCAD, or similar design tools
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, contractor-driven environment

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
