Delta Dental of Missouri is seeking a
UX/UI Design Intern to help create intuitive, accessible, and visually engaging digital experiences across our enterprise applications. Position Summary
As a UX/UI Design Intern at Delta Dental of Missouri (DDMO), you will contribute to the design and implementation of intuitive, accessible, and user centered digital experiences across enterprise applications. Working closely with engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders, you will help translate user needs and design concepts into usable, visually engaging, and high quality interfaces that support DDMO’s digital products and services.
Essential Functions And Job Responsibilities
- Assist in designing and developing user centered UX/UI solutions for applications.
- Collaborate with product owners, and developers to translate wireframes, mockups, and prototypes into functional user interfaces.
- Support usability testing, user research activities, and feedback analysis to improve user experience and accessibility.
- Help maintain and enhance UI components, design systems, and style guides for consistency across applications.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of UX/UI standards, patterns, and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to understand business requirements and user needs, ensuring solutions align with organizational goals.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and usability guidelines.
- Stay current on emerging UX/UI trends, tools, and technologies, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
Qualifications
- Actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in UX/UI Design or marketing, or closely related field, with hands-on experience from coursework, school projects, or internships.
- Foundational understanding of UX/UI design principles, usability, and user centered design methodologies.
- Basic knowledge of frontend technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with UX/UI design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar platforms.
- Exposure to responsive design and accessibility concepts.
- Understanding of design handoff processes and collaboration with development teams.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira).
- Basic knowledge of usability testing techniques and user research methods is a plus.
- Excellent problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills.

Environment
This position currently functions as a hybrid role working from both home and in-office environments. Any home office setting must be conducive to all guidelines outlined by the organization. This role is required to regularly attend in-person meetings, the frequency of which is determined by management based on departmental or organizational needs.
