NATURE OF POSITION
The Graphic Designer supports the agency’s visual communication efforts by designing and producing materials for print, digital, and environmental applications. This position helps translate transit information into clear, accessible, and user-friendly materials for a diverse public audience. The Graphic Designer supports brand consistency across agency communications and assists with the creation of design assets used for passenger information, internal communications, and public outreach.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Design and produce passenger-facing materials including bus stop signage, system maps, schedules, and environmental graphics.
- Assist in developing visual information that supports navigation across Fixed Route, Dial-A-Ride, and Vanpool/Rideshare services.
- Create and update digital assets for the agency website and online platforms.
- Design infographics, social media graphics, and service update templates that communicate information clearly and effectively.
- Produce printed materials such as timetables, rider guides, brochures, and outreach materials for specialized transit services.
- Prepare production-ready files with accurate specifications, bleeds, and color profiles.
- Apply agency brand standards consistently across print, digital, and physical materials.
- Assist with maintaining visual standards including typography, color palettes, logo usage, and layout consistency.
- Support the creation of public-facing materials that comply with ADA requirements and universal design principles.
- Design materials that are accessible to individuals with varying abilities and language needs.
- Assist with design and layout of full and partial vehicle wraps for buses, paratransit vehicles, and vanpool fleets.
- Prepare artwork for vehicle templates and other large-format applications.
- Coordinate with vendors on print, signage, apparel, and wrap production.
- Review proofs and assist with quality checks to ensure materials meet design and production specifications.
- Support internal departments with employee-focused materials such as newsletters, reports, presentations, and digital signage.
- Participate in meetings and events on weekends and evenings as required.
- Work with and maintain confidential information.
- Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in professional design software such as Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent.
- Knowledge of graphic design principles including layout, typography, color theory, and visual hierarchy.
- Knowledge of print production methods, materials, and specifications.
- Ability to translate technical or detailed information into clear, user-friendly visual materials.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow established brand standards and apply them consistently across materials.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal departments and external vendors.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field, from an accredited institution and three years’ of progressively responsible experience in graphic design; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a public sector, transportation, or complex service environment.
Physical Requirements
Generally sedentary in nature; occasionally stand and walk; intermittently kneel, stoop, bend and twist at the waist, and reach overhead; sit for long periods of time. Rarely kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally lift, push/pull, or carry up to 40 pounds. Good vision to read print and computer screen. Hear and speak to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to include repetitive keyboarding, grasping and reaching to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and/or standard office equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment where noise, frequent interruptions and lack of privacy may be present. Operate a motor vehicle. Occasional exposure to outdoor environment and weather conditions when participating in Agency events. Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
