ISC is seeking a candidate for a PKI Engineer position in the Washington metropolitan area. The successful candidate will be involved in supporting multiple software projects and provide off- and on-site customer support, while working closely with the local support/sales/R&D teams as well as headquarters staff in Oak Park, IL.

Job Responsibilities
- Design and Implementation: Develop and maintain PKI systems, including Certificate Authorities (CAs), Registration Authorities (RAs), and Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) to support secure communications.
- Certificate Management: Oversee the lifecycle of digital certificates, including issuance, renewal, and revocation, ensuring compliance with security policies and best practices.
- Provide pre- and post-sales support for multiple PKI software projects via phone/email/web/onsite as needed.
- Regularly interface with customers to help them configure, deploy, and support ISC products.
- Aid customers attempting to integrate ISC software into existing environments and help ensure interoperability with third-party software/devices.
- Troubleshooting: Provide support for PKI-related issues, troubleshooting incidents, and resolving problems related to certificate management and PKI infrastructure.
- Documentation and Training: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for PKI processes and procedures, and provide training to IT staff and end-users on PKI-related topics.
- Stay Updated: Keep informed about emerging threats and advancements in PKI and cryptography, recommending improvements to enhance the security and efficiency of PKI systems.
Desired Skills & Experience
- U.S. citizenship (with clear background check) is essential! Holders of an active TS/SCI security clearance are preferred.
- in-depth knowledge of PKI and security-related concepts, with significant experience in the administration and configuration of PKI software on Windows and Linux.
- Familiarity with cryptographic protocols such as SSL/TLS, IPsec, and S/MIME.
- Above average oral and written communications skills with a demonstrated aptitude for communicating effectively with fellow employees and customers
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and troubleshoot hardware and software bottlenecks
- Familiarity with configuring hardware security modules (HSMs)
- Admin experience with Apache Tomcat and/or Red Hat JBoss including experience troubleshooting TLS issues
- Knowledge of database configuration/management using Oracle, HSQL, or PostgreSQL
- hands-on experience with Windows and Linux usage and administration in STIG’d environments
- a working knowledge of current ISC products would be a definite plus!
