Part-Time Staff Accountant (Temp)
Our client, a Needham-based life sciences company, is in need of a reliable and detail-
oriented Part-Time Staff Accountant on a temporary basis (3-6 months). This individual
will provide broad accounting support across general ledger, accounts payable and
receivable, and payroll reconciliation functions. The ideal candidate is organized,
accurate, and capable of working independently with minimal oversight in a fast-paced
environment.
Location: Needham, MA (On-site)
Employment Type:Temporary / Part-Time 25 hours per week
Reports To: VP, Accounting
Length: 3 - 6 months
Responsibilities
General Ledger & Month-End Close
● Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a regular basis
● Assist with month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries
and account reconciliations
● Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy
● Support the preparation of internal financial reports and variance analysis
Accounts Payable & Receivable
● Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring proper
coding and approvals
● Manage vendor communications and resolve discrepancies as needed
● Record and apply customer payments and monitor outstanding receivables
● Assist with collections follow-up on overdue accounts
Qualifications
Required:
● 3–5 years of accounting experience in any industry
● Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
● Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred
● Strong understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP)
● High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
● Strong organizational and communication skills
Preferred:
● Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
● Experience supporting a small-to-mid-sized company (25–75 employees)
Familiarity with month-end close processes and financial reporting
Working Conditions
May require occasional additional hours during month-end close or audit preparation period .
