What you'll do
The successful candidate will have a strong product engineering background and proficiency in Javascript, React, NodeJS. You enjoy fast-paced entrepreneurial environments where you can solve difficult problems using current technologies and tools. You collaborate well with other team members when brainstorming, designing, and implementing new solutions. You will help the team succeed by thinking about ways to improve processes, suggest ways to make the team more effective, and mentor and model engineering best practices. As a member of the core eSign engineering group, you will work closely with product managers, developers, and devops engineers to ensure high quality and timely product releases. You are a hands-on technical resource who will be responsible for issues related to product features, performance, speed, scale, security and accessibility.
This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Manager, Engineering.
Responsibility
- Deliver product features and technology improvements as part of a passionate agile development team working on a high impact roadmap
- Innovate, design and build applications that will scale and support our platform serving more than 1 billion unique Docusigners
- Write high quality code in JavaScript, Typescript, and React
- Write and maintain unit and functional tests for every feature
- Participate in an Agile environment using Scrum software development practices, automated unit testing, continuous integration, code reviews, version control systems, automated build processes
- Raise issues proactively that may impact delivery commitments
- Fix production issues and maintain the code as needed
- Address system issues as they relate to performance, scalability and reliability
- Provide direction and supervision across multiple teams to influence architectural decisions and technology selection
- Work cooperatively with product management and design to create features that satisfy user needs with simplicity, consistency and robustness
- Identify, propose, and implement process improvements to continuously increase the team's productivity and efficiency
- Maintain and evolve the software architecture for current and future needs
- Stay current with the latest development best practices and share your findings with the team
Job Designation
Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring
Basic
- B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 2+ years of professional software development experience building web applications in a Cloud/SaaS or Enterprise environment
- 2+ years of experience developing user interfaces with React and TypeScript
- Experience building and maintaining large-scale, production web applications used by real customers
- Experience consuming RESTful APIs and working with Node.js/Express or similar server-side frameworks
- Experience writing automated tests (e.g., Vitest, React Testing Library, Playwright) and using CI pipelines to ship code safely
Preferred
- Experience implementing accessible web applications for a global audience (WCAG, semantic HTML, keyboard and screen reader support)
- Commitment to code quality, reliability, and maintainability in a shared platform codebase
- Experience working in micro-frontend architectures, or interest in learning how to build for a shared shell
- Experience with modern CI/CD tooling (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) and release strategies (feature flags, staged rollouts)
- Experience instrumenting applications for observability (logging, metrics, dashboards) and using data to debug or improve performance
- Familiarity with Agile practices and test-driven development
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong attention to detail and ability to work in a highly collaborative, cross-team environment
- Natural curiosity and a growth mindset — comfortable learning from others and sharing knowledge to help the broader the ecosystem
Wage Transparency
Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:
California: $112,800.00 - $175,000.00 base salary
Washington, Maryland, New Jersey and New York (including NYC metro area): $106,900.00 - $155,100.00 base salary
This Role Is Also Eligible For The Following
- Bonus: Sales personnel are eligible for variable incentive pay dependent on their achievement of pre-established sales goals. Non-Sales roles are eligible for a company bonus plan, which is calculated as a percentage of eligible wages and dependent on company performance.
- Stock: This role is eligible to receive Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
