Junior Designer (Part-Time, In-Person)
Burnham Design | Los Angeles
Burnham Design is a boutique, full-service residential interior design studio. We’re looking for a part-time Junior Designer—but more specifically, we’re looking for a certain kind of person: someone who is as comfortable organizing a complex project as they are pulling together a beautiful room. Someone who notices everything. Someone who moves quickly, follows through, and cares about doing things well, not just getting them done.
This is a 3 day/week, in-person role.
What you’ll actually be doing:
- Working closely with the Principal on design concepts and project execution
- Creating presentations, mood boards, and client materials
- Supporting AutoCAD drawings (2D plans and elevations)
- Tracking details, documenting site meetings, and keeping projects on course
- Communicating with clients, vendors, and subcontractors
- Managing samples, materials, and the day-to-day flow of the studio
- Participating in installations and photoshoots
This role is a fit if you:
- Are early in your career (1–2 years in residential design) and want real experience
- Are extremely organized and naturally detail-oriented
- Have a strong work ethic and don’t need to be micromanaged
- Can toggle between creative thinking and logistics without dropping either
- Stay calm under pressure and figure things out
- Have taste—and are actively developing it
- Like being part of a small, high-functioning, no-drama team
Requirements:
- Los Angeles-based with reliable transportation
- AutoCAD proficiency
- Familiarity with local vendors and resources
- Adobe Creative Suite experience a plus (Photoshop, Illustrator), along with Pages/FileMaker
A sense of style and a sense of humor matter.
This is not a passive role. You’ll be expected to contribute, stay organized, and take ownership over time. In return, you’ll get a close-up view of how a design studio really runs—and a chance to grow quickly if you’re up for it.
To apply: send your resume, a short note, and something that shows your eye (portfolio, mood boards, Instagram, etc.).
