Western Industries Corp. is seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Design Technician to join our Carrollton Branch Engineering team. This position is responsible for designing, testing, documenting, and cost estimating custom packaging and material handling solutions using materials such as corrugated paperboard, foam, plastic, and wood. This role works closely with engineering, sales, customer service, customers, and production to deliver practical, manufacturable solutions. Starting pay rate is based on your experience and knowledge of materials, processes, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design custom packaging solutions and create CAD drawings
- Develop prototypes and support testing and customer approvals
- Prepare cost estimates for materials, components, and labor
- Collaborate with account managers, customers, and production teams
- Maintain accurate design documentation and specifications
- Assist with vendor sourcing and obtain quotes for materials and tooling
- Provide technical support as needed
Qualifications
- Experience with packaging materials preferred (corrugated, foam, plastic, wood)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Proficient in AutoCAD – Minimum of 2-3 years design experience
- Proficient in Autodesk Inventor
- Experience with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) is a plus
