We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join our team in Newton, MA. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic distribution and food industry business.
This role is ideal for someone who is organized, consistent, and comfortable working with high-volume transactional tasks, while also being interested in growing into more analytical accounting responsibilities over time.
Role Overview
A significant portion of this position involves high-volume invoicing and accounts receivable processing. The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in accuracy, is comfortable with repetitive workflows, and understands the importance of getting the details right every time.
As you develop in the role, you will take on additional responsibilities involving reconciliations, problem-solving, and financial analysis.
Responsibilities
- Process accounts receivable transactions, including invoices, credit memos, and debit memos
- Manage high-volume invoicing with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness
- Support AR collections and follow up on outstanding balances
- Assist with inventory transactions, including receipts, returns, and adjustments
- Perform inventory reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Support commission reconciliation processes
- Research and resolve customer deductions and billing discrepancies
- Assist with wire payments and other accounting-related tasks as needed
Systems & Tools
You will be trained on:
- Sage 100 (General Ledger & Accounting)
- DocStar / Eclipse (Document Management System)
- Internal systems including Paradox and MCS
- Microsoft Excel and reporting tools
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships or bookkeeping experience a plus)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage repetitive, process-driven work with consistency and accuracy
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving ability
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office tools
- Ability to work in-person in our Newton, MA office
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $50,000 – $58,000
