Position Description
Saint Ignatius College Prep seeks a detail-oriented and mission-driven accounting professional to support the financial operations of the school. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reconciliations, processing routine accounting transactions, managing accounts payable, and assistance with month-end, year-end, and audit processes.
The ideal candidate demonstrates the highest ethical standards, technical accounting skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners in a dynamic educational environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of the school's financial records in support of its mission to educate young men and women in the Jesuit tradition.
Responsibilities Include
- Prepare journal entries in the general ledger.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Assist with the month-end and fiscal year-end close processes, preparing schedules, reconciliations, accruals and other closing entries.
- Support the preparation of requested documentation for the audit.
- Own the accounts payable function, including invoice and payment processing, routing for approval, 1099 compliance and resolving vendor discrepancies to ensure timely payment within established terms.
- Review corporate credit cards and employee expense reports for compliance with school policies and supporting documentation.
- Partner with other departments to ensure accurate accounting and strong financial operations.
- Assist with special projects, system enhancements, and process improvements within the Treasurer's Office.
- Provide courteous service to employees and vendors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the school's financial stewardship.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of relevant accounting experience. Relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to leverage technology and adapt to new systems, automation, and AI-driven solutions.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial audiences.

Pay Range: $60,000 - $75,000
