Build the Future.We’re looking for an expert-level Senior/Chief Mechanical Engineer to serve as the highest technical authority in mechanical design at Associated Environmental Systems (AES). In this role, you will own the mechanical release process, sheet metal design, and CAD ecosystem while collaborating closely with refrigeration and electrical engineers. You’ll lead critical projects, elevate standards, and mentor others — shaping the future of AES’s product line for top-tier clients like Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, Meta, Google, and Harley-Davidson.

The Opportunity
As AES’s chief mechanical engineering authority, you will:
- Lead design and release of complex, custom, and high-visibility projects.
- Ensure accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance of mechanical deliverables.
- Provide expert guidance in sheet metal design and CAD standards.
- Own CAD libraries, templates, automation, and training across engineering.
- Review and sign off on DFMEAs, FEA, CFD, and tolerance stack-ups.
- Evolve Methods of Manufacture to support lean, accurate production.
Primary ResponsibilitiesMechanical Design & Engineering Releases (≈70%)
- Engineer and 3D model sheet metal structures and assemblies in SolidWorks 2021/24 (expert-level).
- Integrate refrigeration and electrical components into assemblies for complete designs.
- Develop clean, parametric drawings compliant with ASME and AES standards.
- Generate BOMs collaboratively across disciplines, ensuring lean accuracy.
- Create and manage laser files in Lantek Expert.
- Execute ECOs with strict attention to documentation and version control.
- Peer review CAD models and drawings to drive consistency and manufacturability.
Methods of Manufacture & Engineering Sign-Off (≈20%)
- Maintain and update AES’s Methods of Manufacture database for mechanical scope.
- Conduct and review DFMEA, FEA, CFD, and tolerance stack-ups.
- Serve as the mechanical sign-off authority on Tier 2+ projects.
- Provide solutions for schedule/resource conflicts while leaving final scheduling with PMs.
CAD Systems Architect (≈10%)
- Own AES’s CAD ecosystem: libraries, templates, macros, and automation.
- Drive CAD efficiency improvements that reduce design time and rework.
- Train and mentor mechanical engineers in advanced SolidWorks and sheet metal practices.
What You BringMust-Have Skills
- Expert-level SolidWorks (7+ years), with mastery of Sheet Metal and PDM.
- Proven ability to model fast, clean, and parametric with strong structure and naming discipline.
- Experience with design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) in sheet metal.
- Strong understanding of heat transfer concepts and how design impacts thermal performance.
- Working knowledge of refrigeration and electrical component layout principles.
- Attention to detail: models and drawings should be as clear as your communication.
- Excellent cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
- Creative, solutions-first mindset.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with environmental systems, refrigeration cycles, or thermal management products.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
