The Injection Mold Designer is responsible for designing high precision, multi-cavity injection mold tools while supporting technical issues and tooling enhancements in a fast moving production environment.
Duties
- Essential job functions:
- Handle all aspects of design work, ensuring all specifications are met.
- Directly communicate with customers via quotations, meetings, and presentations to understand and define their needs.
- Work with customers to define and document requirements, address technical concerns, and provide project status.
- Understand and respond to customer requests, both verbal and written.
- Act as technical expert for the company internally and externally.
- Provide support to planning, manufacturing, assembly, quality, and production as required.
- Work closely with all departments to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information and are error-free.
- Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts.
- Coordinate and facilitate design reviews
- Sketch rough layouts & compute angles, weights, surface area, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances & location of holes
- Plan and formulate engineering functions and organize project according to project requirements
- Evaluate problems and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases
- Use computer-assisted design & drafting equipment and software to develop designs.
- Work from customer drawings, company drawings, and government drawings or specifications.
- Calculate tolerance stack-ups to verify design fit and accuracy.
- Manage several projects at one time.
- Follow systems for organization, control, and archiving of electronic and paper documents and files. Receive and transmit information electronically.
- Training and Work experience preferred:
- Work freely with customers
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, both alone and in teams
- Strong project management skills
- Computer literate in CAD and Microsoft Office
Experience
- Degree or certificate from recognized CAD training facility
- 3-5 yrs. experience in designing and detailing molds.
- Proven experience in plastics injection molding within a factory setting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with project scheduling tools and techniques.
- Experience working in a manufacturing facility, with knowledge of assembly processes preferred.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing methodologies and their application in product design.
- Ability to interpret complex schematics and technical documentation effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
