We're a small startup building a smarter way to manage physical inventory — think automated shelving and retrieval systems that track what you have, where it is, and how much space it takes up. We're looking for a hands-on mechanical engineer to help us design and build it.
What you'll be doing
- Design and build the physical hardware — frames, moving parts, storage mechanisms, and the components that make the system move and function reliably
- Select motors, actuators, sensors (like weight and dimension sensors), and off-the-shelf parts that fit our needs
- Build and test prototypes, troubleshoot what isn't working, and iterate quickly
- Work closely with a small team — you'll talk directly with the founders and collaborate with electrical and software engineers
- Keep drawings, specs, and documentation organized and up to date
What we're looking for
- 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience, ideally with physical products or machinery
- Comfortable using CAD software (we use Onshape)
- Experience with motors, linear motion systems, or automated/robotic equipment is a big plus
- Hands-on — you'll be building and testing real hardware, not just drawing on a computer
- Strong problem-solving instincts and ability to work in a fast-moving, resource-conscious environment
Practical details
- $80-$110k + equity
- Fully covered health, dental, and vision insurance
- Flexible PTO
- This is a fully onsite role in Midtown Manhattan — no remote or relocation considered at this time
