Job Description
The Category Manager is responsible for supporting the end-to-end procurement lifecycle for assigned categories, including labor and rotating equipment services. This role ensures reliable supply to operations while evaluating supplier performance, cost competitiveness, and contract compliance. The Category Manager partners closely with operations, engineering, supply chain, and suppliers to support ongoing business needs, manage commercial agreements, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate supply chain risks.
This is a contract position with an initial duration of approximately four months, with the potential for extension based on business needs.
Responsibilities
Procurement & Contract Management
- Manage the full procurement lifecycle for assigned categories and suppliers.
- Maintain ownership of pricing agreements, rate structures, and active service contracts.
- Draft, review, and administer contracts, amendments, change orders, and service agreements.
- Coordinate and support competitive sourcing events, including RFPs, bid evaluations, negotiations, and supplier selection.
- Ensure proper approvals and compliance requirements are met for contractual agreements.
- Track and maintain accurate contract documentation and commercial records.
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a key liaison between operations, engineering, supply chain, and suppliers.
- Conduct supplier meetings and performance reviews as needed.
- Monitor supplier compliance with agreed pricing and contract terms.
- Support ongoing business requirements while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
Commercial Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze market conditions, pricing trends, and cost drivers affecting the business.
- Evaluate commercial options and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
- Support cost tracking, reporting, and forecasting activities.
- Assist with monthly financial and contractual reporting requirements.
Process Improvement & Technology
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency and supply chain performance.
- Utilize procurement and contract management systems to maintain accurate records and reporting.
- Apply technology and data-driven tools, including AI-enabled solutions where appropriate, to enhance workflows and decision-making.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supplier management processes.
Skills And Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Experience managing contracts, procurement activities, or supply chain functions.
- Strong understanding of contract terms, commercial agreements, and sourcing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, evaluate supplier performance, and make commercial recommendations.
- Experience coordinating multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting labor, workforce, or rotating equipment categories.
- Oil and gas industry experience preferred but not required.
- Experience managing procurement or contract activities in industrial, manufacturing, energy, construction, or related industries.
- Familiarity with sourcing, procurement, and contract lifecycle management systems.
- Experience with supplier invoicing and procurement platforms is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using procurement, sourcing, or contract management software.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools and emerging technology solutions, including AI applications.
